I had hoped that I'd find a more convenient way of writing into this blog. I'm not a diary keeper or a writer, normally, but I've been hacking about with things, running into problems and finding novel solutions to things so much that when I set this site up I intended to share all the crazy things with the world. What I've found, though, is that I'm really not all that inclined to sit down in front of the website and write a blog about what I'm doing. The process just feels "clunky". I think this is probably one of those places where AI would be useful. Imagine just speaking into your phone, "Hey everyone, I just found a neat way to....." and then finishing it with "... add some stock images about that, and put a big image at the top of me, the one where I'm winking at the camera"... and the AI would create/download the images, grab a photo from your gallery, and compose the post with tags and markup for you... I know it's hyper lazy, but isn't that what AI is supposed to be for? A tool to help us be creative, by taking all the drudgery out of things? I think people are trying to shoe-horn AI into being the creator itself where it's not the AI's comfort zone. In these early days there's too much hype. We should be creating tools to make the web better and help us express ourselves and create with more freedom, but all we seem to be doing is creating tools which steal ideas, create weird inaccuracies and downright lies, causing us to create more rules and limits. It's a shame really. The very technobros that want us to use more AI are torpedoing their own business case by mismanaging what they're trying to do.
